Sales have soared at Cancer Research UK stores across the UK following a refit to LED to achieve higher-quality light output and lower energy bills. The Armley store to the west of Leeds saw sales rise 49% during the first year after the refit was completed.
Energy-saving LED fittings and lighting controls are central to the lighting strategy at a new 19,000 sq ft purpose-built facility for family-owned freight forward and logistics company Southampton Freight Services.
Lighting manufacturer FW Thorpe has seen sales soar to £73.5m for the year to 30 June 2015, up 19.9% from £61.4m a year earlier. Pre-tax profit also increased by 14.7% to £14.4m compared to £12.6m in 2014.
Plymouth City Council is to upgrade its street lighting across the city in a move that will see 29,000 luminaires replaced with LED technology. The initiative is expected to save the council £1 million per year in running costs.
