Seville’s street lights have integral solar panels

A PARK in Seville, Spain is one fo the first in the world to install Signify’s all-in-one solar street lights.

The lighting has been installed in the month of June in a shorter time than necessary for conventional public lighting, due to civil works and installation of wiring, reducing the cost and inconvenience to citizens.

In a pilot project, the Elena Park features 20 Philips SunStay solar street lights which integrate the solar panel, luminaire, charge controller and battery in one housing,

Philips SunStay street lights have an output of 3,000 lumens of warm light and an efficacy of 175 lm/W, making them more efficient than existing solar street lights.

Integrated solar street light with Lithium Ferro Phosphate battery, solar panel, charger and PIR sensor built into the luminaire. Pressure die cast aluminium for sturdiness and long life.

Specially designed pole mounting bracket allows different tilt angles, lateral and pole top mounting.

The units feature a replaceable Lithium Ferro Phosphate battery with a Maximum Power Point Tracking charge controller.

The lighting of the park allows the practice of outdoor sports outside the existing facilities during the night, as well as maximising the use of this green space of the city by residents and visitors.

‘All the municipal electricity supply is converted into 100% renewable energy,’ said the mayor of Seville, Juan Espadas.

‘That’s why it is so important that one of the green areas in the city is where we will develop an innovative business project to find solutions that improve citizens public spaces usage and, at the same time, contribute to the reduction of emissions and sustainability.’
