Boutique lighting controls firm acquired

ONE OF the lighting controls industry’s most exclusive brands has changed hands this month.

TheisCraft founder Jon Theis shakes on the deal with Multiload Control’s Brian Cuthbertson

Multiload Controls – a bespoke supplier to multimillion pound homes and five-star hotels run by a team of veteran ‘gentlemen engineers’ in upmarket Finchley, north London – has been bought by Farnham-based controls firm TheisCraft.

In a statement, TheisCraft said: ‘The Multiload award winning, product portfolio complements the existing TheisCraft product range and the acquisition will allow TheisCraft to further develop its relationship with the standalone markets and the architectural sector’.

‘This is an extremely exciting time for both companies,’ said Brian Cuthbertson, managing director of Multiload Controls. ‘The markets, customers and resources that TheisCraft have will give us the opportunity to penetrate sectors of the industry we have never worked in before.”

Multiload projects includes Lord’s Cricket Ground, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association, Bath’s Thermae Spa, London’s Connaught Hotel as well as Scottish castles and a host of private homes.

TheisCraft – founded by Jon Theis – has worked alongside Multiload on many occasions over the last few years for non-DALI dimming solutions, particularly on architectural projects.

Theis said: ‘We have wanted to develop a closer relationship with Multiload for quite some time so this is a perfect fit for TheisCraft.

‘Following the acquisition, it will be very much business as usual, but we will now look to maximise every opportunity both commercially and technically as we move forward.’

Multiload’s most significant recent introduction is the LEDrose LDR100,  a constant current driver. Designed in-house using its self-developed algorithms, it smoothly dims from the maximum current set to zero light output, flicker-free, any LED light source requiring a remote constant current driver.

The product was shortlisted in the 2017 Lux Awards in the Controls Product of the Year category.
