AN ANALYSIS of the suppliers to the shortlisted projects in the 2019 Lighting Design Awards has revealed the key brands that enable cutting edge lighting projects.
Some are well known brands while others are in favour with lighting designers for their service, bespoke manufacturing expertise or catalogue of key light elements.
Topping the list is Italian manufacturer iGuzzini, which has supplied many of the leading contenders, including the MNKY HSE (pronounced Monkey House) Latin American restaurant in London’s Mayfair by Technical Arts and the Meixi Urban Helix in Changsha, China by the Office for Visual Interaction.
The sale of iGuzzini to rival Fagerhult was approved by competition chiefs earlier this month.
Next up is UK brand LightGraphix, a firm favourite with designers for its useful but unflashy luminaires.
Another Italian brand, Reggiani, takes third slot while LED Linear, last year’s chart topper is in fourth place.
These are followed by no fewer than six new entries: Osram, XAL, Precision Lighting, downlight specialist Lucent, outdoor luminaire maker We-Ef and Canadian brand Lumenpulse.
Dropping out of the list this year are Mike Stoane Lighting, Crescent, Flos, Helvar, Erco, acdc and Zumtobel.
