LUG Lighting is a leading European designer and manufacturer of architectural and infrastructural lighting solutions. It’s the market leader in Poland and is now growing strongly in over 60 international markets, including a new operation in the UK.
LUG Lighting arrives looking to be more than just another company with a decent product range. With over 30 years of experience in lighting, LUG is a company with a strategy that goes far further than many of its competitors.
Significant investment has seen the introduction of advanced and competitive manufacturing facilities at the company’s base in western Poland, close to the German border, as well as the development of its in-house capability to design and build the LED modules for all its luminaires.
This manufacturing investment has been matched by the creation of a passionate, talented and innovative team, including over 40 R&D designers who have been rewarded with several Red Dot and IF design awards.
Unusually for a lighting manufacturer, LUG also has an in-house team of architects, who play a key role in guiding the LUG approach to the architect and lighting design community.
This is an approach to business that recognises that modern building design requires a flexible and timely approach from product manufacturers. This informs the LUG Architectural Support Programme, which assists the project team to deliver their vision, from sketch to realisation.
The programme is summarised in a short video, featuring a project where LUG Lighting worked closely with Chapman Taylor.
Working so closely with the project team makes customisation easy. Standard products can be developed into customised and bespoke solutions, helping architects and lighting designers to achieve their imaginative goals.
All lighting product solutions come backed with full BIM data, along with modelling and visualisation services as and when required. The ideal product can be designed into the building from the very start of the building design process. At the same time, the project team gains an early understanding of the lit effect and the energy implications of the building.
LUG Lighting is currently working with RIBA and Cibse to deliver a BIM CPD training programme. This will be introduced to architect and lighting design practices across the UK in the near future.
For more information on the LUG Lighting approach to BIM, attend the BIM Academy at LuxLive in the Light Tech Theatre on 14 and 15 November. Or watch LUG’s recent Lux webinar, Introduction to lighting in the BIM environment, from Andrzej Szumilas, architect and BIM project manager at LUG Lighting Factory.
Recognition for LUG products:
‘The main advantages that the Cruiser 2 LED industrial luminaire has over other solutions for this application segment are high quality, a set of dedicated optics systems for different types of projects, good design, a variety of mounting methods and user-friendly packaging.’
Winner of IF Design Award 2017
Winner of Red Dot award 2017 (industrial design)
‘The luminaire’s ergonomic construction allows for its easy mounting on a horizontal or vertical surface as well as on a lamppost. Thanks to a simple mounting procedure and low weight of the luminaire, it can be conveniently and safely mounted by one person.’
