Abu Dhabi celebrates National Day in lights

More than 25,000 UAE flags and decorative lighting designs have been placed by Abu Dhabi Municipality around the capital as part of the festivities for the UAE’s 44th National Day.

The decorations are designed to capture the patriotic and national values of the UAE, with the lighting displays highlighting expressions such as ‘Long Live my Country’, and ‘Live United our Emirates’, according to a statement issued by the Abu Dhabi Municipality.

Other designs include depictions of the UAE’s official emblem, the Spirit of the Union, and hundreds of other designs with the words ‘UAE’ in both Arabic and English.

The municipality has said that it intends to cover all major Abu Dhabi roads and landmarks with the decorations, including the Corniche, due to its popularity with tourists and residents.

The lighting designs and shapes have been made from high-quality electric cables, according to the municipality, and include weather-resistant materials, ensuring the highest standards of safety.

Areas being decorated for UAE’s National Day include: King Abdullah Street, Al Khaleej Street, Shaikh Zayed Street, Corniche Street, Sultan Bin Zayed Street, roundabouts, Al Mushrif, Al Saadiyat Bridge, Municipality’s Head Office, municipal branches, and other areas in Abu Dhabi.

The boulevards have been festively decorated in Shakhboot City, Khalifa City, Al Falah, Al Shahama, Al Samha, Mohammad Bin Zayed City, Baniyas, Al Mafraq, and Al Bahia. Thousands of flags have been installed on lamp posts in all areas of Abu Dhabi City and its suburbs.
