The internet of things: what does it mean for lighting?

It's no longer just computers and phones that are connected to the web - it's all kinds of devices, including lights. An expert panel at Lux's Smart Lighting Controls Europe conference considers what this means.

The goals are admirable, but they may never be fully achieved because: 1. People are so unpredictable. One untrained or careless user could sabotage the best designed/installed plan. 2. Total standardization, necessary for IoT, may never be reached. 3. Equipment, as well as humans, can fail unexpectedly. Unless people are taught how to MANUALLY correct such failures, there may be dire consequences.
