How LED went from the exception to the norm at Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's is on a mission to turn all of its lighting to LED.

As of this year, all new lighting in stores, offices and warehouses is being specified as LED by default, as the retailer works towards a target of 30 per cent carbon emission reductions by 2020 (from a 2005 baseline).

The Lux Award-nominated project will see 100,000 LED luminaires installed by the end of this year, both in new developments and retrofit projects.

Rather than working with  just one manufacturer, Sainsbury’s has sought out solutions from nine LED lighting suppliers: Dextra, GE, Holophane, JCC, Lumenpulse AlphaLED, Nualight, Philips, Thorlux and Zumtobel.
