Forth Ports gets two-year payback on LEDs - and that's just the maintenance savings

Forth Ports is upgrading the lighting at its docks in Leith to LED.

A range of LED fittings are being installed across the site in order to combat maintenance costs of lights in hard-to-reach and exposed locations.

Among the upgrades are linear strip handrail lamps for the port’s jetty, and 150W equivalent Dialight LED high bays in the warehouse.

Derek McGlashan, Forth Ports energy manager, said the new lighting has made a significant difference. ‘In the course of two years alone these lamps will pay for themselves, just in reduced maintenance costs, aside from the savings in electricity,’ he said.
