Lux to investigate the new age of indoor positioning

Lux to investigate the new age of indoor positioning

It is almost impossible when you are equipped with a global positioning system to get lost, but trying to navigate your way around a colossal shopping mall is often another matter. Indoor positioning will make this a thing of the past soon, just like GPS tossed getting lost on country B roads onto the ash heap of history. At our upcoming Lighting Fixture Design Conference in London, we will examine indoor positioning, a new technology that relies heavily on lighting.

Four human centric projects you NEED to know

Four human centric projects you NEED to know

In preperation for Lux's Lighting Fixture Design conference next week, which will consider the best ways to translate human-centric and circadian science into marketable products, we list four projects which have taken the capabilties of human centric and deployed them.

How will lighting make cities smarter?

In advance of our Lighting Fixture Design Conference, this week's Lux Today is a smart cities special. How is lighting improving our urban environments? Why are more and more cities adopting smart technology? And why does the lighting industry need to move quickly to take advantage of this new innovation? Lux Today 14 February 2017.

Where are the top five smart cities in the world?

Where are the top five smart cities in the world?

The smart city revolution shows no signs of slowing down and the opportunities for the lighting industry are ripe for the taking. In the run up to Lux’s Lighting Fixture Design Conference, which will run from the 21 to the 22nd of February in Central London, we reveal our top five smart cites, where lighting is allowing city authorities to reimagine how our population centres are managed.

Lux to host Middle East roundtable on spec protection

Lux to host Middle East roundtable on spec protection

Design practices creating lighting schemes for buildings in the Middle East need a local presence to ensure that the specified equipment doesn’t get substituted for inferior products.

On Wednesday 15th of February, we will be hosting a webinar that brings together a group of UAE based lighting specifiers, including Regina Santos who is the associate, head of lighting design at Godwin Austen Johnson. We’ll be talking about what strategies are employed to ensure that specifications are not downgraded in quality and design intention.

Silvair perfects connected lighting technology

Silvair perfects connected lighting technology

Connected technologies have become a common sight at industry events and they were among the most important trends at last year’s LuxLive. The list of benefits that they have to offer in commercial lighting is impressive, but the adoption rate and the list of real world implementations is not as impressive as you might expect. To learn more about where commercial smart lighting technology is at the moment Lux met up with the folks from Silvair at their LuxLive 2016 booth.

How will the rise of smart cities revolutionise lighting?

How will the rise of smart cities revolutionise lighting?

Barely a day goes by without another town or city announcing that it has become a ‘smart city’. Kansas City in the United States became the latest area to join the expanding group just this week. Later in the month Lux will examine the Smart City phenomenon in greater detail at the upcoming Lighting Fixture Design conference in London.

How to use human centric knowledge to your advantage

How to use human centric knowledge to your advantage

Human Centric Lighting and circadian rhythms have become much more common terms over the period of the last year. But, despite the rise in awareness, not everyone knows how best to use this new knowledge when designing new lighting fixtures. At Lux's upcoming Lighting Fixture Design Conference we intend to close the gap between know-how and real-world application.
