Have YOU a great idea for a killer app for lighting?

HAVE YOU an idea for an application of internet-connected lighting? That’s what the judges of an innovative category in the 2018 Lux Awards are looking for.

The Property Technology Connected Lighting Concept of the Year, sponsored by Aurora powered by Gooee, celebrates imaginative ways of using lighting to create real value for clients.

Judges are looking for a service in which data from lighting is used to create useful, actionable information for building owners. It could even just be an idea for a compelling use-case or an actual real-world application.

For instance, it could be an app which allows retailers to communicate with customers using the lighting.

Or an asset-tracking platform that allows hospitals to locate high-value pieces of equipment.

Or a service in which data from lighting is used to create useful, actionable information for building owners. It could even just be an idea for a compelling use-case or an actual real-world application.

After all, luminaires can now produce data such as presence detection and location, temperature, air quality, humidity, traffic density and speed and well as link to other devices such as mobile phones, machinery and RFID tags.

It’s the application, not the hardware, that’s important here.

The winner will be announced that same night at the Lux Awards 2017 presentation ceremony at the InterContinental London - The O2.

This category reflects the exciting new possibilities opening up in the market and point to a future where lighting and the internet fuse together to save energy, deliver a responsive environment and create new digital services.

Due to its special status, the Property Technology Connected Lighting Concept of the Year has a later closing date for entries than the standard categories of the Lux Awards. All entries should be received by Monday 15 October.
